Is There a Change in Cellulite After Menopause?
December 27th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedIf you are wondering if there is a change in cellulite after menopause, the answer is yes. Menopause is the last hormonal change in women’s bodies and it has an effect on the appearance of a woman’s body. Hormones can affect the skin and connective tissues that are involved in the appearance of cellulite and there can appear to be more cellulite after menopause.
Cellulite and Hormonal Changes
Hormonal changes occur naturally over the course of a woman’s life. The first major hormonal change is at puberty. Pregnancy is another condition, which changes the hormonal balance in the body. As a woman ages, her body no longer stays in a condition to bear children as a result of aging and the hormonal changes that occur with age.
At menopause, the hormonal change will cause the skin to thin and the connective tissue to lose its tone. The skin also softens and is no longer elastic. All these skin conditions affect the appearance of cellulite.
Along with these changes, the connective tissue that holds the fat cells together is no longer as flexible. When the skin thins, the fat cells that bulge will become more visible, when there is an episode of water retention or extra fat. The elastic skin, that hid the fat cells before menopause, stretches and thins after menopause.
First You Don’t See it, Now You Do
When the skin loses its ability to bounce back, it sags and will not hold its own shape anymore. The effect of softening skin and less elasticity also causes the cellulite to appear because as the skin loses it elasticity, it loses its ability to cover the fat cells. Consequently, what is beneath the skin, namely the structures of the bones, circulation system and fat cells, will become more visible after menopause.
Diet and Exercise Are Preventative Measures
To combat these effects, a combination of a nutritious and balanced diet with regular exercise can reduce the appearance of cellulite after menopause. It can be alarming to find cellulite in any case, but to have it worsen at menopause can be an unexpected and unwanted change. Proper nutrition will keep your body functions, including skin function, energized. Exercise will improve circulation throughout your body and will keep your skin as elastic as it can be.
Cellulite after menopause can be effectively checked with regular effort. Cellulite after menopause can also be a fact no matter what you do although diet and exercise can help. If you are bothered by cellulite after menopause, you can choose out of the many treatments that are offered to reduce cellulite.

Hair Loss in Women: A Devastating Experience
December 18th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedAuthor: Fernanda B.Sc, Pharm, M.H
A short time ago I went through an emotionally destructive experience where I noticed I was beginning to lose my hair. To some this might appear and vain, however, any women who has gone through a large hair loss sympathises with the grieving.
I’ve always had dark brown thick curly hair with a significant amount of body – I always thought too much body. Hairdressers always raved about my hair. Secretly I longed for the hair I never have which is silky long blond hair. However, when I looked about and saw bunches of my hair on the floor, instead of being attached to my head, I absolutely appreciated what I was losing. At the time, wherever I went, I left a trail of hair behind me. When I shampooed my hair large bunches of hair would drop out. When I brushed my hair, after a few strokes, the brush would literally vanish in all the hair burying it. I felt so vulnerable that I weeped continuously. When I pulled my hair up in an elastic and its thickness was no longer what it used to be I finally realized I had to take some drastic measures.
My first move was to consult with my Physician, There are lots of medical maladies that contribute to hair loss such as Cushings, hypothyroidism, diabetes and polycystic ovaries, etc. I consented to a number of tests and they all came out negative. Although I was pleased to know I was in perfect health, it did nothing to alleviate my anxiety about the hair loss. Now I was sure I had been cruelly blessed with the curse of baldness which runs all through my Father’s family. This sent me into a heavier depression.
My next plan was to scan the internet looking for information. The internet was loaded with all sorts of miracle stories for hair loss and baldness. I was frightened at how frantic I became to try something, anything, that would cease this hair loss. Particularly appealing were all of those hair transplant clinics offering a full head of hair. But not one of these ads discussed an explanation. Why was my hair falling out so rapidly?
I did find a reasonable solution. Via the internet I discovered a medical clinic with a dermatologist who specifically works with hair conditions. I telephoned the clinic and was advised I had to have a referral from my physician with the outcome of test results to deny other medical maladies. Once I contacted my doctor and the results of the tests were delivered we made an appointment. I saw the specialist and he did a complete check of my scalp and my medical background. After talking to me for half an hour he knew the cause of my shedding. I don’t bring to mind his name but he will forever be “GOLDENDOC”
Previously that year I had had pneumonia which was very stressful to my body. Mother Nature being what she is, determined my body was in need of all the nourishment necessary and nourishing my hair was not her priority. “GOLDENDOC” in his welcomed wisdom discussed with me that the deterioration of my beautiful locks of hair would be over soon. True to his word my hair stopped falling out after a further five or six weeks.
Then I went through the reverse experience. No hair loss at all, not even the normal loss of 100-200 hairs on a daily basis. This remainded for six months or so. Now I have all my hair back, and I sure appreciate it.
If any woman is going through hair loss, please examine what I did. See your physician and request the required tests done to rule out underlying medical maladies. If these are proved negative, locate a dermatologist who specializes in for work with hair loss. He/she will give information and suggestions that allow you to make a better choice. Complex Ovarian Cyst - Types And Treatment
December 14th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedMany women will have an ovarian cyst at some time in their life. For the majority of these cysts, there are no symptoms and they are just as likely to shrink to nothing as develop into anything serious. Despite this fact, more complex cysts can grow and even though they are certainly not common they are more problematic to the health. Complex ovarian cysts are different than simple ones in that they can consist of both solid and liquid matter. The 3 common types of complex ovarian cysts are classified as dermoid cysts, endometiomas, and cystdenomas.
A dermoid cyst forms from the ova, which are cells that produce human eggs. As these cells are non-differentiated cells with the potential to grow into any tissue of the body, dermoid cysts will sometimes contain hair, skin and teeth. Although dermoid cysts are unlikley to be cancerous, they are not without a good deal of pain, especially when they get larger and sometimes cause the ovaries to twist.
Endometrioma is a type of complex ovarian cyst resulting from the condition of endometriosis. A woman with this condition have uterine cells that grow outside of the uterus, often attaching themselves to an ovary and forming a growth after a series of menstrual cycles. Endometrial cysts can grow until they become as large as a grapefruit. Endometriosis may be down to your genes. It is marked by pain before and after menstrual periods and during sex, as well as fatigue, pain with urination and bowel movements, and irregular menstrual periods.
Cystadenomas are a complex ovarian cyst that grows from ovarian tissue. Filled with liquid, cystadenomas may become twisted in the ovary and lead to severe pain. Cystadenomas can be divided further into two types. A serous cystadenoma consists of a thin fluid, and is known to grow to between 2 inches to 6 inches diameter. In contrast, a mucinous cystadenoma is made up of a viscous or sticky liquid that could be said to resemble gelatin. A mucinous cystadenoma can grow to a size of around 6 inches to 12 inches in diameter.
Complex ovarian cysts may also manifest symptoms that mimic those of pregnancy: tender breasts, nausea and vomiting. If one experiences severe pain in the abdomen or pelvis then don't hesitate to get medical attention immediately. Endometriosis or ectopic pregnancies may induce painful symptoms not dis-similar to those of complex ovarian cysts. The symptoms are differentiated through abdominal pain, pain before or after periods, and pain during sexual intercourse. They may also experience irregular bleeding or even the absence of menstrual periods.
A common way to confirm and diagnose ovarian cysts is a pelvic examination. Pelvic ultrasounds can give a clearer picture of the diagnosis and confirm the condition. Doctors will probably take a pregnancy test to determine if pregnancy may be the reason. They will also ask for blood tests to be conducted. When it is identified that a woman has a complex ovarian cyst, it is important that she seek urgent assistance if there is sudden, intense pain in the pelvic area as this may indicate a problem with the cyst.
Complex ovarian cysts must be checked to determine whether they are cancerous or not. Complex ovarian cysts are not cancerous in most cases. However, a physician must determine whether cancer is present through testing.Normally, your doctor will take into account your age and main symptoms in forming a diagnosis.

To use this mix you will need to spread it over any areas you have cellulite. This works so well that many anti-cellulite products that are on the market contain these ingredients.
Another very common remedy for cellulite is to detox your body. The idea behind detoxing your body is to clean the junk inside your body out. A detox will require a liver flush and a bowel cleanse. This means things like jogging, bicycling, treadmills, and so forth are the ideal place to start. These are all exercises that you can perform for a half hour or even longer. For standing curles you use a weight and curl your legs in an upwards motion. Make sure that you get a trainer at your gym to show you how to do things properly. For the standing curles you can only do one leg at a time. After your done with the standing ones you should move to a lying down position. For the last exercise you should try out lunges. These exercises will help you work the butt area. There are many different ways of going about doing these. It would be a good idea to have your trainer show you a few different ways that you can try. Find one exercise that you like and works for you.
Those exercises should give you a good place to start at. Make sure that whatever you are doing that you are working on a thigh cellulite exercise and then go from there. Working the thighs first is the most important.
