Antibiotics for Yeast Infection

People have asked if they should take antibiotics for their yeast infection.  The answer is unequivocally no.

Candida, the type of yeast found in and on the body, needs a certain environment to grow and multiply.  Normally, we have few candida microorganisms in our body, as they are kept in check by many factors, including beneficial bacteria and the pH balance of their environment.

What effect does taking antibiotics have? The intestinal bacteria are killed.  And antibiotics are indiscriminate. They not only kill the bad bacteria but the good “friendly” bacteria as well. With no more good bacteria the candida grows rapidly.  The candida then break through the wall of the intestines and get into the blood stream.  Symptoms start to show.

The two main reasons that candida overgrowth is caused by antibiotics are:

Your situation is much worse if you have been taking antibiotics for a long time.If your body does not get back in balance the yeast infections will continue to flare up.

We get antibiotics by prescription but forget that our food sources often contain antibiotics as well.

It is a well-documented fact that animals grown for human consumption have been fed a lot of antibiotics. There is no money to be made with animals that have an infection. So you take in antibiotics every time you eat a piece of chicken or a steak.

Cows are given large doses of antibiotics, so their milk also contains antibiotics.  To avoid getting antibiotics from milk, use only organic milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy products. If you use goat or sheep milk or cheese, make sure they’re also organic.Or use rice milk or soy milk!

It’s sometimes hard to find a plain liquid soap with no antibacterial content.Try to get non-antibacterial soap.

It’s important to know that you cannot take antibiotics for a yeast infection. If you get yeast infections it’s important to avoid taking antibiotics.  And it will help you to avoid non-organic meats, dairy products, soaps and other antibacterial products.

If you want to be free of yeast infections altogether, there are ways to get your body back in balance. The growth of the yeast will be kept down only if you change the internal environment of your body.  I recommend professional help for this, either in person or written by a qualified practitioner, as it involves diet, supplements and therapies and it’s important to get it right.
